Filmed at Barrandov Studio

Congratulations are in order to the makers of Jojo Rabbit for a number of film awards and nominations!

The film had its’ US premiere on the 18.10.2019 and since then has collected a noticeable number of awards and nominations. Heading the list and beginning in the fall was the peoples choice award at the MFF in Toronto. The Brits awarded Taika Waititi with a BAFTA for the best adaption of a screenplay and an OSCAR also went his way from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In both cases the film received 6 nominations. One of the Oscar nominations belonged to Czech designer and scenographer Nora Snopkova. The script was also recognized by the Writers Guild Award, receiving several additional acknowledgements from the ranks of other American associations – awards for casting, costumes, soundtrack, editing, and the best young actor award.

Taika Waititi brings his signature style of humor and pathos to this  World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis as Jojo) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.

Taika Waititi chose the Czech Republic for his filming of Jojo Rabit, with all of the interiors being set right here in Barrandov Studio.
