The today starting 52nd International Film Festival Karlovy Vary will present two co-production films made by Barrandov Studio.

The only Czech representative in the main competition - Little Crusader (Křižáček) by Václav Kadrnka, starring Karel Roden, will be premiered at the festival. Little Crusader is a “historical roadmovie“ that takes place in late medieval times and is inspired by a Jaroslav Vrchlický’s romantic poem. For more information about the film, click here.

Another co-production film made by Barrandov Studio and the April winner of the Best Screenplay Award at the New York Tribeca festival is called Ice Mother (Bába z ledu). The film can be seen in the Czech Films 2016–2017 section at the Film Festival Karlovy Vary. Written and directed by Bohdan Sláma, the film reveals difficult relationships among three generations and brings hope that it is possible to take life into one’s own hands at any age. Barrandov Studio – partner of Industry Pool
Within the festival, Barrandov Studio is a partner of Industry Pool – the space above the hotel Thermal pool which is designed for meetings and events of film professionals.

Barrandov Studio – partner of Artisans in Focus
Barrandov Studio is a partner of the Artisans in Focus panel discussion organized by the Variety magazine to introduce world-known film masters of camera, production, costumes, and editing. The moderator of the panel is Peter Caranicas, a Variety magazine editor.

Barrandov Studio – partner of Works in Progress competition
Barrandov Studio is a partner of the Film Industry Office Works in Progress project which has been a festival tradition for many years. Within the project, eight projects in the postproduction phase will be presented, coming from Middle and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, the Balkans, Turkey and Greece. The aim of Works in Progress is to support these projects during distribution launching and to support cinematography in the above-listed countries. The winner will get a prize at the total value of 100,000 EUR.
